About the Collection

Educational Materials

The Educational Materials collection includes thousands of fiction and non-fiction books for children and young adults, a selection of puppets and games, and curriculum materials. Items within the collection may be found on the second floor, near the main staircase and the John and Janet Murphy Family Instructional Lab.

Although the collection is intended to primarily serve the university's education programs, anyone may browse the collection for some leisure reading for themselves or to take home to the little ones. This is where you'll find some of your favorite novels by Sherman Alexie, Neil Gaiman, Shannon Hale, Madeleine L'Engle, C.S. Lewis, Garth Nix, and J.K. Rowling.

Every effort has been made to select the best juvenile fiction and non-fiction based on bestseller lists, award winner and nominee lists, recommendations from recognized authorities like the Cooperative Children's Book Center (CCBC) and We Need Diverse Books, and knowledge of books being taught in local schools.

Many of the curriculum materials are currently not available in the Library Catalog, so browsing these materials is highly recommended. The library's focus is on collecting curriculum materials currently being used in the Superior School District.

Additional books useful for teaching and education may be found in the General Collection and Reference collection.
