Music Databases available through UWS

Encyclopedias and Compendiums

A few encyclopedias emphasizing the Western Classical Tradition are noted below. To locate more:

  • Search the Catalog (Search @UW) for "Encyclopedia AND Music" 
  • Limit your search from "everything" to "books and media at UW Superior" 
  • Using the features at the left (or look for the "filter" image icon on mobile), limit the results to "books" 
  • Add any additional limiters (such as by topic, genre, or creation date) that you would like

Streaming Subscription Audio and Video

While not exclusively focused on music, a number of the video databases feature documentaries on and performances of music

  • Select operas are available through Digital Theatre +
  • Documentaries on a range of musical types (from Accordions to the music of J.S. Bach and beyond) are available on Docuseek
  • Select contemporary films are available through Feature Films for Education
  • Films on Demand offers an array of documentary and educational films on musical topics
