Searching for OERs

While the library does have a few examples of K-12 textbooks in our Educational Materials Collection, not all disciplines are currently represented. If you cannot find an appropriate text in our collection, or, if you do not have time to wait for a delivery from a Resource Sharing or Interlibrary Loan request, we highly recommend using an OER (Open Educational Resource).

Locating OERs: Places to Start

While keyword searching may yield great results when searching for OERs, it is possible that you find yourself frustrated. Remember, the people who are indexing these items are not librarians, therefore they may not be thinking of tagging each object with all the appropriate words to recall the record in a search. Try searching within a single subject using filters. This takes a bit more time, but it will also show you many more materials that you will find with a keyword search.
