Library Liaison Program

Library liaisons act as a bridge between the library and academic departments. Each academic department is assigned a library liaison who works in partnership with the department to select library materials and develop services in support of learning, teaching, and research to further the overall academic mission. During the academic year, liaisons will send monthly communications with news, updates, and occasional requests for action. Faculty and staff can view an archive of those communications on the employee intranet.

• Serve as your first point of contact for information about library resources and services.
• Purchase materials to support your curriculum and faculty research.
• Attend department meetings to give presentations about library resources and services.
• Learn about department curriculum, course assignments, and learning outcomes as they relate to the library.
• Consult with you on your information needs and direct you to the best information resources.
• Collaborate with you to provide online instructional objects for your students to improve their information literacy and bibliographic skills.
• Facilitate discussions or grade research assignments as an embedded librarian in Canvas.
• Teach your students how to conduct research and critically evaluate information.
• Assist your students with in-depth research questions through consultations.

• Invite your liaison to departmental meetings.
• Share information about your department's curriculum with your liaison.
• Suggest materials for purchase through ChoiceReviews.org.
• Recommend our services to your students, who can set up an appointment with a librarian by using this online form.
• Link to library resources in your Canvas courses.
• Embed a librarian in your Canvas courses.
• Schedule library instruction sessions with our Information Literacy Librarian by using this online form.
• Tell us if you have library related needs, concerns, and suggestions.

Each of our library liaisons have a masters degree or higher, and collectively, have many years of library experience to offer the UW-Superior community.
