Join us October 7, 2021 for the second part of our Data Deluge: Privacy in a Connected World speaker series, featuring information law expert Sarah Lamdan, a Professor of Law at CUNY School of Law. Lamdan will present Academic Surveillance: Big Data Policing in Libraries & Classrooms.
As more of our traditionally in-person academic activities move online, our academic world is being run by tech companies. In libraries, our publishers and library service providers are pivoting to being data analytics companies, repackaging and selling people’s personal data to grant funders, landlords, and even law enforcement. We’ll talk about what it means for students and researchers when our research platforms and other academic services belong to data brokers.

This ongoing speaker series about data and privacy will continue through the fall and spring semesters. What does data mean in our connected world? What does it tell us about who we are, who we will be, and what we will become? Join in the conversation in person or on Youtube!
