Hi! We are Dr. Jamie White-Farnham and librarian Stephanie Warden, and we are proud to serve as the Director Team of the Markwood Center for Learning, Innovation and Collaboration and Jim Dan Hill Library. We would like to share a little bit about our philosophy and what drives our passion to serve thousands of students and hundreds of faculty and staff with community, resources, and support for teaching and learning.

From Stephanie, Associate Director:

I believe in investing in people. Throughout my life I have been the beneficiary of investments of time, money, energy, education—all of these things enabled me to have the life I have today. Whether we are investing our time into one-on-one consultations with our students and staff, investing in our collection to support learning, or creating quality events and programming that enhance student learning, we are poised to continue the cycle of positive investment for years to come.

From Jamie, Director:

I am driven by a foundational commitment to public higher education. I grew up attending my local public elementary and high school, and when I was 13, I watched my mom graduate from our regional state college, where she was also an employee. In a sense, I grew up on that campus, and I eventually earned my undergraduate and advanced degrees at public institutions as well.

What appeals to me about public higher education are the opportunities they provide to people who want to continue to learn, to meet people who will inspire and guide them, and to put their stamp on the world. Today, my role affords me the chance to support all those people, whether through our vast Library collections, through the creation and maintenance of up-to-date and useful technologies and resources, and by bringing together students, staff, faculty, and community members through our programs and events. I am grateful every day for what public institutions have done for my family and how they allow me to help others.
