Interlibrary Loan

Who May Order?

Interlibrary Loan services are available for faculty, staff, and students of UW-Superior.  Other patrons should contact their local public library for interlibrary loan services.

Questions regarding UWS interlibrary loan policies or procedures should be directed to the Interlibrary Loan Department at 715-394-8130.

Time Needed to Obtain Materials

The length of time needed to obtain an interlibrary loan can vary depending on the request.  Some requests, particularly out-of-state materials, can take up to two weeks to obtain.  Some materials arrive as an email attachment or retrieval link delivered directly to your UW Superior email account.

Notification and Tracking

Interlibrary Loan will notify you when your materials arrive through campus email only.

It is the responsibility of the patron to follow up on all requests.  You can see whether an item has been shipped by logging in to ILLiad and checking outstanding requests.  If the request has not arrived in a reasonable amount of time, an Interlibrary Loan staff member should be consulted to determine the status of the request.

Requests

Interlibrary loan requests may be placed on line using ILLiad.  Your 16 digit ID number and last name are required to long in and request materials.

You may also use WorldCat to requests books and videos.

Online forms should be filled out as completely as possible.  Periodical titles, names, article titles, and publishing information should NOT be abbreviated.

See also:  Universal Borrowing, for requesting loans from other UW Libraries.

Financial Responsibility

Most items are available at no charge to UW-S patrons.  Occasionally, rare or out of state materials are only available for a fee.  If a fee is charged, the patron will be contacted by the ILL Department.  If the patron is willing to pay the loan fee, the item will be ordered.

Lost Materials?

The requester is responsible for any replacement charges assessed by the lending library for interlibrary loan materials that are damaged, overdue, or lost.
