Circulation

The Circulation Desk is temporarily located in RSC and is staffed all the hours that the library is open.  The phone number for the Circulation Desk is: 715-394-8343.

Where do I check out & Return Materials?
Materials must be checked out at the Circulation Desk.  Materials may be returned at the circulation desk or in the book drop outside the library.

Who can check out materials?
- University of Wisconsin - Superior faculty, students, & staff WITH their current UWS ID.
- CSS, UMD, LSC, WITC, LCO, FCC, & Northland faculty, students, and staff WITH their valid college ID.
 

How long may I check materials out?

General Collection Students - 4 weeks
Faculty - Semester
Government Documents Students - 4 weeks
Faculty - Semester
Vault Materials and Special Loans 3 days*
Videos and Films - UWS Students 3 days
Video and Films - UWS Faculty & Staff 5 days
Periodicals Do Not Circulate
Microforms Do Not Circulate
Newspapers Do Not Circulate
Reference Materials Do Not Circulate
Reserve Materials 2 hours, over night, or 3 days**


* Special loan materials can include dissertations, reference works, and archival records.  Loan and length are discretionary.
** Reserve materials have varying loan periods.  The instructors who place the materials on reserve are responsible for determining the length of a given loan.  Some materials may be checked out over night.

May I renew my materials?
Materials may be renewed once, for one loan period.  Renewals may be made online, over the phone, in person, or by e-mail.

What are the fines and late fees?
A fine of 10 cents per day per item to the maximum of $10.00 per item is charged for over due materials.  Overdue fines are assessed to ensure that materials are returned on time.  Due to the nature and use of reserve materials and videos overdue fines are $1.00 per item per day to the maximum of $30.00

What if I lose something I have checked out?
Lost materials should be reported immediately.  Payment for lost materials will be assessed at the price of $60.00 per item plus a non-refundable $15.00 processing fee.  Fines accrued at the time the loss is reported will be added to the assessed amount.  If materials are found within one year after they have been deemed lost and have been paid for, the amount charged will be refunded minus the processing costs and the fine.
