Looking for some background information on a topic? The reference collection includes more than 3,000 encyclopedias, dictionaries, handbooks, style manuals, and other resources to help you start your research.
These books can be found on the First Floor of the library near the Reference Desk. University students and staff may check out these books for three days. A coin-operated photocopier is also available behind the computer commons for those individuals who only need to copy a few pages.
Reference materials that are older or in less demand may also shelved in the general collection on the Garden Level, so it is helpful to include the general collection when searching for background information.
Our physical reference collection is supplemented by many excellent online reference databases accessible through our Databases A-Z list.
