This atlas was designed to "assist the user in understanding the problems and prospects besetting the region." This atlas
is broken into two sections. Part I contains maps that describe the region as a whole in terms of physical size, topography,
climate and natural resources. Other maps in this section provide historical information on the different eras of foreign conquest
of this region and colonial occupation. A time line is included with the historical maps. There are also maps describing trade,
ethnicity, and religious affiliation. Part II of this atlas contains individual maps of each country in the Middle East. Included are
country maps describing population density, economic activity, and land use. Some basic demographic statistics and a timeline of the
country's history are also supplied.
